1-on-1 Coaching to Improve Virtual Presentations or PowerPoint Skills

You have a high-performer that is great at their job. Except for one thing. When they present the results of their analysis virtually to executives, colleagues, or clients their presentations are disorganized, confusing, and visually distracting. It doesn’t make the audience have confidence in their work. Or you have someone who takes way too long creating PowerPoint slides and it is impacting their other work. You’ve told them they need to improve but the online courses from HR and IT are too basic and the YouTube videos they’ve found don’t address their specific needs.

That’s where 1-on-1 coaching can help.

For professionals who need help presenting virtually I start by observing them present and asking about their process and preparation. This allows us to determine where the issues are. Then we work through structured sessions that combine teaching, practice, and review. We often cover topics including structuring a presentation, selecting & creating visuals, and delivery using visuals on virtual platforms such as Zoom and Teams. I also share some of the advanced techniques that will make their presentations stand out. We may end up focusing on one area more than another depending on their needs.

For those who need help with creating PowerPoint slides I start by reviewing slides they have created and asking them about their slide creation process. This allows us to determine where the issues are. Then we work through structured sessions that combine teaching, practice, and review. We often cover topics including using a corporate template, creating graphs in Excel & PowerPoint, creating diagrams and working with shapes, using images, and using video. They learn the insider tips and tricks that make slide creation quicker and easier.

There are usually 4 to 5 sessions with homework assigned in between. Each session is recorded and made available on a private portal that also contains additional video resources. The person has access to the portal for one full year. I often include a follow up session 3 months after our last teaching session to check in and answer any questions that came up while they’ve been using what they learned.

If this sounds like what you are looking for to improve the performance of one of your key staff, get in touch by email and we can start a conversation on what will work best for this person.

I’ve written some articles below that share some examples of past coaching engagements so you get a sense of what this might look like in your situation.
