Short Bio

Dave Paradi has been recognized by the media and his clients as a presentation expert. He has authored ten books on effective PowerPoint presentations and his ideas have appeared in publications around the world. Dave is one of fewer than ten people in North America recognized by Microsoft with the Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Award for his contributions to the PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams communities. His articles and videos on virtual presenting have been viewed over 1.2 million times and liked over 12,000 times on YouTube. He is a highly rated conference speaker and has delivered more than 450 customized training sessions around the world in the last 22 years.

Extended Bio

Dave Paradi is the author of “GPS for Presentations”, “Select Effective Visuals”, “102 Tips to Communicate More Effectively Using PowerPoint” and “The Visual Slide Revolution”, which was selected as one of the Top 10 Business Books of 2008 by The Globe and Mail. He has been an Adjunct Faculty member at Rush University in Chicago and is the co-author of three “Guide to PowerPoint” MBA-level textbooks. The National Post called Dave a “presentation training guru”, the Globe and Mail described him as a “presentations expert” and Tony Ramos referred to Dave as a “PowerPoint rock star”.

He helps professionals and executives create and deliver PowerPoint presentations that have a clear message, focused content, and effective visuals.  His background in research, marketing, copywriting and sales helps him to develop ways that presenters can get their message across effectively.  His clients say that what he does is unique because he fills the void between presentation skills training and technical skills training.

Since 1999, Dave has been speaking professionally to audiences in Canada and the United States. In addition to the books he has authored, Dave has also written over 150 articles and over 480 issues of his Presentation Insights e-newsletter.  He produced over 90 slide makeover videos showing lessons presenters can learn from a “before” and “after” slide transformation, which have had over 100,000 views through the iTunes store, his SlideShare site, and his YouTube channel.

In Dave’s presentations, he addresses the key complaint of audiences – information overload that confuses the audience. He shares his GPS approach for planning a presentation and his HVF approach for creating effective PowerPoint slides. This equips business professionals to visually communicate the messages in their data so they don’t overwhelm and confuse executives. These presentations lead to better understanding and action by decision-makers.

Dave served five years as a National Director of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers (CAPS) and was awarded the CAPS President’s Award for Distinguished Service in 2003. He holds an MBA from The Amos Tuck Business School at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire (1991) and a B.A.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from University of Toronto (1987). In 1998, he earned accreditation from York University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in Facilitation and graduated from the Dale Carnegie Course.
