Using Digital Photographs in PowerPoint Presentations

Do any of these issues plague you when using digital photos in your presentation:

  • You can’t seem to find unique photos to use that make your point and using the same old photos make your presentation look old and tired.
  • The photos look chunky when you insert them on the slide and size them up, so the audience can't really figure out what the photo is, leaving them confused.
  • You insert a digital photo and your PowerPoint file size gets huge instantly, topping 10 MB or more, meaning you can't e-mail it.
  • Any time you run a presentation with digital photos it runs slowly and each picture seems to take forever to come up on the screen, leaving you with awkward pauses in your presentation.
  • You have seen professionals use photographs to enhance their stories and want to learn the simple techniques they use.

You want to be able to use the power of digital photos to say "a thousand words", but just don’t know what you are doing wrong. Now you have an opportunity to learn exactly what to do by watching an expert at work. You get to stand over his shoulder as he shows you exactly what he does to effectively use photos in presentations that run quickly and can be e-mailed easily.

My name is Dave Paradi and I am an expert who helps people create and deliver PowerPoint presentations that get results. I use digital photos in my seminars all the time and I have figured out how to make it work. You will be learning from someone who knows what he is talking about. I am also the author of "Guide to PowerPoint" from Prentice Hall.

I recorded a live web tutorial to show you exactly what to do. In this unique recording, you will see my desktop in your browser on your computer so you can see what I am doing on your own screen and you will listen to me explain everything I am doing.  You can pause the recording at any time and go to PowerPoint and try the steps yourself.  Or rewind to review a section again.  I will use plain PowerPoint and freely available tools such as Picasa and IrfanView that you should make part of your toolkit – no add-ins, extra programs or plug-ins that you have to buy. That way, you can actually use the information I share without having to purchase some special tools.

What we will cover in the one hour web tutorial recording:

  • Why so many photos look bad when projected
  • Sources of digital photos
  • Tips on finding photos online (Office Online, istockphoto, other sites)
  • Tips for taking your own photos
  • Cleaning up photos with Picasa (red eye, coloring, lighting, etc.)
  • Cropping photos with Picasa
  • Resizing and resampling with Piacasa
  • Resizing and resampling with IrfanView
  • Saving photos for use in PowerPoint & File formats (BMP vs JPG vs TIF (transparent background))
  • Inserting photos on a slide
  • Adjustments on slide (size, position, rotation, brightness, aligning multiple images, framing the image)
  • Removing background graphics to focus on photo
  • Putting text on a photo so people can see it
  • Animation of photos during presentation
  • Two effective ways to use photos in a presentation

If you wanted to hire me to sit with you for an hour and go through this and record everything I did, it would cost hundreds of dollars. But through the power of technology, I am able to keep the cost down and offer it to you at the low price of $87! I want as many people as possible to benefit from this information, so I am keeping the price low.

The recording runs for almost one full hour – and it is full of great ideas and tips you will be able to use that same day. I am known for packing tons of information in to all of my seminars and products, so be prepared.
