Extended Bio
Dave Paradi is the author of "102 Tips to Communicate More Effectively Using PowerPoint" and “The Visual Slide Revolution”, which was selected as one of the Top 10 Business Books of 2008 by The Globe and Mail  He is an Adjunct Faculty member at Rush University in Chicago and is the co-author of two "Guide to PowerPoint" MBA-level textbooks. The National Post called Dave a “presentation training guru”, the Globe and Mail described him as a “presentations expert” and Tony Ramos referred to Dave as a “PowerPoint rock star”.

He helps presenters communicate more effectively by using persuasive PowerPoint presentations.  His background in research, marketing, copywriting and sales helps him to develop ways that presenters can get their message across effectively.  His clients say that what he does is unique because he fills the void between presentation skills training and technical skills training.

Since 1999, Dave has been speaking professionally to audiences in Canada and the United States. In addition to the books he has authored, Dave has also written over 45 articles and over 200 issues of his PowerPoint Tips e-newsletter.  He produces a bi-weekly video podcast (more than 45 videos so far) that has over 15,000 views through the iTunes store and his YouTube channel.

In Dave's presentations, he addresses the key complaint of audiences – too much text that is simply read by the presenter.  He shares his five-step method for transforming overloaded text slides into persuasive presentations.  This equips presenters to use visuals that encourage a conversation with the audience leading to better understanding and action by decision-makers.

Dave served five years as a National Director of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers (CAPS) and was awarded the CAPS President's Award for Distinguished Service in 2003. He holds an MBA from The Amos Tuck Business School at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire (1991) and a B.A.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from University of Toronto (1987). In 1998, he earned accreditation from York University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in Facilitation and graduated from the Dale Carnegie Course.

Some of Dave's clients include: Home Depot Canada, University of Chicago MBA program, Ontario Power Generation, Nikon Optical, Purolator Courier, Professional Association of Investment Communications Resources, Montgomery College, Town of Oakville, and individual professional speakers. His learning tools have been purchased by individuals all over the world. He has also spoken to professional speakers chapters and conventions in the United States and Canada.

Dave's ideas have been featured by the Globe and Mail, Financial Post, Hoovers online, AirTran magazine, Canadian Professional Sales Association magazine, Microsoft, Presentations magazine, Selling Power magazine, Canadian Business magazine, BusinessWorld India, Presenters University and the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning at Harvard University to name just a few.
